Poetry – The Wind

I have been thinking about my upcoming movie review of Before Midnight. As I prepare to write this post, I have been pondering how films influence my ideas about love, and how in turn , my impressions of love affect my interpretation of films. I finished  The Wind immediately after viewing The New World with Colin Farrell and Q’orianka Kilcher. It was one of those films that transports you right into the story, as if you are living within it.  I wrote The Wind in 2006, amidst a backdrop of major life transitions and mystical awakenings. The intermingling of spiritual and personal love provided my muse.

The Wind

You are my wind.

You are the force that makes ripples throughout every minute particle that comprises my body, spirit, and the inner corridors of my flaming, scorching heart.

Your motion knocks me from standing still or holding on to anything other than the barest, deepest, boldest inkling of truth.

God is forcing these phrases out of my fire, out of my pain, out of my wrenching sorrow.

I’ll say it here, I love you like I’ve loved no other. Ever or evermore. I cannot contain this love.

The longing is pungent yet sweet, bitter yet sour, empty yet overflowing to the ends of the encompassing sea.

Wave after wave after wave I ride. Dreaming, longing, melting into the state of You and I.

I cannot remember for even a fragment of a second my existence before your eyes found mine.

I am wandering aimlessly in a rapturous state of desire, untamed by no one but your eternal gaze, a laser beam through my being, only open to you, my flame, my wind.

      3. Dude, you never have to worry that you might sound crazy recounting some story that defies law and space and time around me! I can’t wait to get to typing mine out, but I had to work all day and ughhhh. But I am home now, happy to be in PJs and may try to start tonight. Oh no to a bumpy few days. Let me know if there is anything I can do. I asked for some insight for you, but all I get is ‘family’ right now.

  12. Firstly, I love your cover picture – absolutely breathtaking. This is beautiful and I relate as I often find my own ideas of love morphing as a result of the media I am exposed to. Sometimes this is movies – I know it sounds cleche, though The notebook for example changed my ideas about the the struggles we sometimes have in relationships – and that those are OKAY and represent a strong connection if you can work through them. That conflict (non violent conflict) can also represent a type of passion.

    There are songs as well that have this impact on me. Ordinary People, by John Legend is another great one that had its moment helping me to find comfort in a relationship I was involved in.

    Great blog that inspired some thought, and your words, beautiful. It appears you have quite the knack with words!
