Musings – We can be heroes just for one day…

Ever just randomly pick out an album to play? Well, I do…  I went to the vinyl this time and picked Heroes by David Bowie. Perfect choice for where I am at lately.

Mercury retrograde is a sore topic for me. I am born with Mercury retro as part of my Scorpio stellium and Mercury is quite active in my chart. Some astrologers say that Mercury retro transits are easier for those born with this placement, Hogwash I say, hogwash! Like most challenges, I have learned to adjust and make the most of what lies before me. I strive to use the energies to promote growth whenever I can.

Mercury is in Cancer and Jupiter just moved into Cancer. On July 8th, Saturn goes direct at 4 degrees Scorpio, in my 8th house. On July 17th, while Mercury is still retro, a lovely water trine emerges between Jupiter, Saturn, and Neptune. This is a great time to reflect on all things water: dreams, emotions, the past, family, one’s shadow, soul yearnings, etc..

I am taking advantage of this time by recovering lost parts of myself. I had a lucid dream recently that I have taken to both my dream groups. I don’t want to blog about the details now, but I will say that I consciously asked those gathered in my dream to tell me whatever they wanted me to know. The last comment a female figure made was for me to look into a time ” before baby-sitting.” Both groups suggested that I try dream re-entry to gather more information. So far no luck, but perhaps I am not ready to go that route. I also am working on uncovering the mystery of my Indian restaurant adventure.  For all I know, they may be linked. They both lead me back to what is the past in 3D linear time.

So I spent part of this weekend compulsively watching the entire first season of Felicity on cable because it was available via a special promotion. I cried and smiled and sobbed and laughed and reminisced. Here are the roots of the word Felicity from http://www.wordnik.com :

Etymologies

  1. From Latin felicitās (“luck”), from Latin felix (“lucky”). (Wiktionary)
  2. Middle English felicite, from Old French felicite, from Latin fēlīcitās, from fēlīx, fēlīc-, fortunate; see dhē(i)- in Indo-European roots. (American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition)

The show’s lead character Felicity has difficulty with choices once she enters young adulthood. Art or medicine, California or New York, the wounded bad boy or the wounded good guy, forgiveness or self-judgement. I had forgotten how much this series resonated for me. I feel that some of the mystery derived from my dream and the Indian restaurant is contained within long forgotten conflicts and choices.

Midlife is a time for women to explore their second coming of age. I am not sure of how this plays out because I am living within this life passage.  Maybe this is in preparation of one’s second Saturn return. I am so glad I am not there yet! But Saturn is making its way towards my Neptune, Sun, and then beloved retrograde Mercury.

It’s funny that I picked David Bowie because I dated 3 Davids. One referred to himself as Dave and the other I called Dave.  The last one was David. The two Daves are from my college days. The name Dave just bothers me now and I know it’s because I don’t want to feel all the residual, unhealed pain. The pain about one man whose huge heart simultaneously made him my true angel and his own worst nightmare.  The pain about the other man, whose inability to be grounded in his being, despite his best efforts, created much confusion and ultimately influenced many of my beliefs about men and romantic love.

This is the thing about healing: it is cyclical in nature. Just like an onion, there are layers upon layers to unravel until you are complete. My dream and parallel adventure are showing me that more layers need to be excavated. I believe that an awesome opportunity awaits me, to examine once more people and places from my past that are begging for attention and care. These next few weeks may prove to be fruitful because the transits are so favorable.  This excavation requires patience, tenacity and courage. But can’t we all show up as heroes in our lives, when we are called? Maybe we can, if even just for one day…

Please share your insights about Mercury retrograde,  the Saturn station in Scorpio, Jupiter’s return to Cancer, and the upcoming Grand Water Trine. May you find felicity in these transits as you explore the watery side of your nature.

How are you experiencing the water energies?

Where does Mercury affect your chart?

What mystery are you pursuing in your life?

It’s the first time one of my birth family comes close to illness/death and not sure how IAM dealing with it. I feel very close to my father and my heart is jumping about. 2. Hey litebeing, I came across this post through your (very funny) random post oracle. This is a very synchronous post for me! Recently after a heavy and intense period of transformation and alone time, i’ve started feeling pure joy in my heart again. 🙂 I’m starting to feel the connection with my soul again. 🙂 Humbled in this uplifting presence, feeling the loving energy around and in me, i feel ready to join the world again with this renewed energy. The day this shift occured (last saturday), i got a phone call from, you can guess it, David. It’s an old friend who started a project involving professional holistic healers . He organises the “white lotus”- events where people can get to know these holistic health workers and get in touch with gentle and subtle healing methods. He asked me if i like to join in as a free worker to help out on these events and tonight is the first meeting… I’m so humbled by this connection!

    Much love! Ann XxX

  3. With Mercury retrograde you are doing most of your work internally. When Mercury goes retrograde this transit should feel comfortable. However, with a stellium in Scorpio nothing is “easy” for you. In addition, depending on your age you would probably now would be a progressed Sagittarius.

  4. I love to read your stories and they always resonate with me. I can’t say that Bowie is my favorite or that I watched a lot of Felicity (I did watch it though) but the rest of it is spot on. I feel as though I am having a downtime, but I do not fear because I know that much greater things are just on the horizon. I fret somewhat, but I do not fear.

Also, leave it to spirit to come to you and give some vague clue as to what you need to look at. The ‘time before babysitting’ seems so mysterious and there is a possibility that there may be many, many poignant times you can recall from the ‘time before babysitting’. Wouldn’t it be so much easier if you got messages like, “You need to talk to that guy you had a crush on in middle school. Yeah, the one with the blonde hair. I think his name was Zach.” See, the whole mystery hasn’t been solved yet, but you have more to go on than a thirteen year time span. Sorry, maybe I am a little jaded because of all of the random, cryptic messages I have been getting lately. I am playing hooky from my Inner Peace award post. I couldn’t help but read the newest post as I was linking to your page. 🙂

    1. It really touches my heart to hear you say that about my stories. Sometimes I wonder if these stories are way too personal to have any impact on anyone but me! Glad I did not let that worry take me off course.

I agree that I often want very specific details, and I get ” before babysitting.” It could mean the years prior to my working as a babysitter or sitting with a baby ( my younger sibling?) Or before I was a baby? or ……..

I do not know any Zach but there is a character Zach in Felicity 🙂 In any event, perhaps this is a time of just sitting ( without baby) and exploring at a slow pace..

I hope your mood and outlook brighten and appreciate your friendship.

      love, Linda

      1. You are very welcome! I also wonder if my ramblings on will make any sense to anyone other than myself. Apparently so, so we shall just have to continue on writing about those things that we feel are important. So since you were a babysitter, maybe it means before that time. Hmmmm….the things spirit has us pondering. Maybe it’s not about a specific detail but about the entire trip you will take in your mind, back to before you were a babysitter. Maybe you need to try to feel like you did back then.

Zach was my junior high crush. He was blonde and wonderful. 🙂

  5. Mercury retro loves to shit all over everything for me, I can’t lie. Well, in fact of course it doesn’t, I just don’t deal with the frustrating aspects of its transits well. I’m learning to rest in these periods now and not just try and forcefully blunder ahead with my own plans because damn, Mercury will just say ‘talk to the hand, kid’, and throw a grenade into whatever I thought was stable, happening and planned. Looking forward to the Grand Water trine, putting a lot of good prayers out there for the raising of global empathy during this time. ~V~

    1. I totally relate! would you believe I just went to put my clothes in the dryer to discover I never turned the washing machine on! That’s why the clothes were still dry:)
It never fails, regardless of how careful I try to be. It is a great teacher of patience and flexibility.

Here’s to a glorious Grand Water trine 🙂

  6. Thank you, Linda, it was so great to read you writing about astrology. And I have just picked and posted a water card for myself for July (a more collective theme also, so it is not to me only, and the picks are always to all who can resonate with them).

Thanks for the Bowie, too. I gotta go and listen Red Shoes now. 😀

Might be back later to your questions.

PS. Sometimes there is a purpose for a meaning to be revealed/understood later.

      1. Thank you! That is what I transmit for the month ahead, for one thing. 😉 I´m wishing you are fruitful month, too.

To me Mercury retrogrades are usually quite subtle. When they are on I´m prepared to have extra patience and humor and special care for detail, and being accepting to my irritations if they take place. There was a phase in my life when I didn´t go to look at my transits at all, because I wasn´t able to look at them detachedly enough, so that I could be sure that I don´t take suggestions that begin to take place unnecessarily because I believe that they will. Maybe I have shared already that some of the transits, both the more challenging and easier ones, I feel without looking at the “map”. There are also transits that don´t have any impact on me. I follow my transits “loosely” and more intuitively than intellectually (and I never mean that my way should be the way of others.) Because being an energy worker/healer I like to work with energy directly.

  7. Lovely thoughts, Linda! I am awaiting the Grand Water trine with so much hope and anticipation. I feel I am getting deeper and deeper into many mysteries. I feel heightened understanding and intuition. I feel all the connections. Mercury retro is a good time for me to withdraw from the world and I do it happily.
    Lots of love,
    Monika
