Update:  Please enjoy some new photos added for your viewing pleasure …..

Sometimes traveling somewhere distant can take you right ” home.” I was incredibly fortunate to spend a few magical weeks travelling throughout Italy. As an Italian American , spending some time in the land of my ancestors helped me appreciate some of the origins of my love of food, art, history, and la dolce vita.  I was transported to a realm Eckhart Tolle calls spaciousness while visiting cathedrals. Words can barely describe how I feel when I am in the presence of these breathtaking works of art so I will let the images speak to you.

For myself the sheer beauty of these places of worship transcends any intention by the artists, architects, priests or popes. It’s all about the immersion into the awe and wonder where I discover the portals into the Divine. What about you?

While I wish my Italy photos were digital, sadly my trip was pre-internet. Thinking of my beloved Italy, especially the Lombardy region ~ Milano, Bergamo, San Pellegrino, Lake Lugano, Pavia, Lake Garda, and the entire region, where I spent the majority of my time. Wonderful people, sumptuous beauty, and yummy food!

    Namaste, Linda

    1. Italy is an open air art exhibition, posing as a country. Did you know it has not even been a country that long? but I digress, I had not been to Europe before and was stunned by the devotion to beauty that is Italia ❤

  2. Not sure why this is my ‘high-lighted thought’, but, is it just me or… is Michelangelo’s Creation really a blue face? I see eyes, a nose, and a flat-ish mouth! Oh my!

    1. Hi Ka,
I do not see what you see, but it is your experience of art that matters…

Thank you for taking a look at one of my older posts about one of the most beautiful places on Earth.

      1. 1st visit: Naples and the surrounding area. I was there to study the archaeology and art at Pompeii, Herculaneum, and other sites.
2nd visit while backpacking thru Europe: Rome, Venice, Pisa, Milan, Florence. Loved them all. ( My first degree was in Classics with a focus on languages and archaeology/art.

      2. how wonderful to study the classics. I also spent time in the south – Naples, Sorrento, Amalfi coast,Salerno, Pompeii, Paestum. Missed Pisa and Florence plus little time in Rome and Venice. Here’s to visualizing and manifesting another trip to Europe for both of us 😀
