I am not really a holiday person. I have written about this before. Yet at certain times in my life I have wished to embrace and experience firsthand the ” miracles of the season” that many have talked about. So far this season has been bleak for me. Yet this morning I looked out the window and noticed the birds are back. And I spotted a lone red bird ….
So I am reposting my poem Grace Everpresent as my Winter Solstice Message to you. There are many who are in need of love, abundance, comfort, etc at this time. I feel for you. I know you. I AM you.
WISHING YOU BLESSINGS AND A LIFETIME OF LIGHT

Grace Everpresent
Where is Grace?
Grace is realizing the car keys are in your other pocket
Grace is when the cop gives you a warning this time
Grace is when the red birds descend on your terrace ” just because”
Grace is when you discover your checkbook error
that you subtracted one hundred dollars by mistake
Grace is when the sky opens and the sun tells the clouds to get lost for a spell
Grace is the neighbor’s cat who snuggles with you after yours has passed away
Grace is the stranger who helps you pick up your groceries off the floor
Grace is the MRI that reveals you don’t have that illness after all
Grace is accepting what is and surviving with renewed hope
Grace is a whole heart after a lifetime of shatters and scars
Grace is a million new beginnings
Grace is finding love way past your prime
Grace is everpresent

update:
I wrote this poem , or rather this poem wrote me, from a place filled with a mixture of despair, emptiness, hope, and gratitude. Your response has been wonderful and I thank you. My poetry has always been fueled by intense emotion and manifests only when it is good and ready. Stay tuned for new arrivals in future posts.

Missed this post somehow… Also traveling and trying to keep up 🙂
I love when the end of the year is all about fun, cheer, lights and sparkles but really don’t enjoy the shopping craze… Or overcrowded parties where I hardly know anybody hehe
Loved the last few lines of your poem! It’s really written with grace, luv xox

thank you for taking the time to find this post while you are traveling. I hope it is somewhere warm 🙂
I love lights all throughout the year and good celebrations with loved ones. What I do not like is the madness and artificiality to ” have fun and cheer” when maybe there is none at the moment.
I don’t know if you read this, but Lehua has the right idea: http://amusingspirit.wordpress.com/2013/12/19/cultivating-an-attitude-of-gratitude/
I am not a grinch, just trying to be real!
thanks for your kind words and much love, Linda

Linda, loved your poem we often forget those little miracles in life which we should all be happy about no matter how small… Your poem so reflects the Grace we are each given…. Sorry I missed this post Linda, I popped over the other day and saw your 111 still there and thought you hadn’t reposted, I am having problems again with email WP deliveries as they seem to come on a whim of their own and then in blocks!… So please bare with me…
Special Thoughts and Hope your days are getting brighter Like the beauty of this little red bird you have here 🙂 xxx Sue

Sue,
I am now getting feedback about the 111 post so I removed sticky status. I hope others can see the newer offerings here. No worries 🙂
Thanks for your kind wishes, looking forward to full moon ( on my moon) and Solstice to brighten me up.

Linda!! Guess what?
So…I shared this post because of that beautiful poem..and a friend of mine so liked it, she copied it onto her phone and talked about it in class today! She completely forgot where she got it from..so when she passed the phone to me to read from it, I was like “Whoa! That’s Linda’s poem!” …and I read it..because we were talking about being graceful in life!
So just to let you know it’s been released out into the Universe more…to the rest of my class…it was 5 of us …but it still came at the right time 😀

Beautiful poem Linda 🙂 It again reminds me not to go looking for the big bang sort of experiences because it is in the gentle “smaller” reminders which happens to me daily that shows me the presence of Divine grace in my life!

thanks Shree,
I do like an occasional over the top experience, but I think that a lot can be said for subtlety.

I also have mixed feelings and experiences about Christmas and Holidays. For years I refused to participate on any level. More recently, or I should say, since meeting and marrying my husband, we participate in a mostly private and quiet way. He was raised Jehovah’s Witness and was not allowed to participate in many things that most of us might take for granted. So, we do the things that he enjoys because of missing out on them.
I despise the commercialization and the expectation that we should exchange gifts.
The darkness and the cold of the season typically make me feel like I am moving in slow motion, so I spend much more time reading than at any other time during the year.

occasionally I sense the spirit, but typically it alludes me like most that is mainstream…

So move over, I am not a holiday person either. Have always had trouble feeling “happy” around this time of year. But life is good; very good!! and I have no reason not to be very happy this holiday season! Sending some of this ‘good cheer your way and wishing you a happy holiday too!!!
