Although I have not caught up yet with the remaining 2013 awards, I am ready to post about receiving the Inventive Blogger Award from my “sister” Glorialana. Thank you so much for including me! It is the first award of 2014! Glorialana and I go waaaaaay back. She was my 1000th Commenter and I created a contest to design a Commenter Award for her. Wow, that was fun and the designs submitted were beautiful. If you do not read Glorialana’s blog, hop on over and dig in! She specializes in eliciting emotion through fantasy, wonder, history, geography, visual art, and music. Plus she is such a sweetheart.
I am very excited about this award because being inventive is an important value of mine. Creativity requires many attributes and virtues like imagination, patience, restraint, an open heart, and curiosity. Inventiveness is also required. For myself that includes making do with less and being artful despite limitations ( How Saturn of me, right?)
Lately I have been watching Chopped on the Food Network. I had not liked it before but now I am hooked. The contestants have to cook delicious restaurant quality meals with bizarre food ingredients from their baskets. Try making an entree using beef tongue, cool whip, marscarpone cheese, and deviled eggs, yikes! The show recently created a cookbook and the slogan resonates strongly with me:
The Chopped Cookbook: Use What You’ve Got to Cook Something Great
The show and cookbook are about creating something amazing with often oddly matched ingredients. If you lose a round , you are then “chopped”. The reason this message hits home is because I find myself working hard to make sense and beauty out of all that is available to me. Most of what I use is from within and many of my creations are limited by less than stellar computer or photography skills. Technology is not my forte, yet I love what it can do for me when used purposefully. So inventiveness requires resourcefulness and adaptability. These qualities do not come easily to me, so that makes receiving this award so much the sweeter.

FIVE things I enjoy about blogging:
1- I love the challenge of juggling images and text to create a meaningful and/or entertaining post. I also strive to make a difference and improve the planet before I hit PUBLISH.
2- I enjoy the element of surprise, who read my posts, are there any comments, etc??
3- I look forward to exploring my reader to see gorgeous photos, blog challenges, soul searing poetry, yummy recipes, or inspiring tales, and so much more…
4- I am somewhat addicted to that golden square near the upper right hand corner that alerts me to likes, follows, comments, and sometimes other goodies 🙂
5- Initially blogging was all about ME (SCREAMS MY EGO), but it is really about all of you and the relationships we forge. I recently read in Your Soul’s Plan that internet connections are pre-planned between lives and my heart smiled. Regardless of distance, frequency, intensity, or language differences, the friendships here are so beautifully authentic and so cherished by me.
