Inventive Blogger Award – Don’t get chopped.

Although I have not caught up yet with the remaining 2013 awards, I am ready to post about receiving the Inventive Blogger Award  from my “sister” Glorialana. Thank you so much for including me!  It is the first award of 2014! Glorialana and I go waaaaaay back. She was my 1000th Commenter and I created a contest to design a Commenter Award for her. Wow, that was fun and the designs submitted were beautiful.  If you do not read Glorialana’s blog, hop on over and dig in! She specializes in eliciting emotion through fantasy, wonder, history, geography, visual art, and music. Plus she is such a sweetheart.

I am very excited about this award because being inventive is an important value of mine. Creativity requires many attributes and virtues like imagination, patience, restraint, an open heart, and curiosity. Inventiveness is also required. For myself that includes making do with less and being artful despite limitations ( How Saturn of me, right?)

Lately I have been watching Chopped on the Food Network. I had not liked it before but now I am hooked. The contestants have to cook delicious restaurant quality meals with bizarre food ingredients from their baskets. Try making an entree using beef tongue, cool whip, marscarpone cheese, and deviled eggs, yikes!  The show recently created a cookbook and the slogan resonates strongly with me:

The Chopped Cookbook: Use What You’ve Got to Cook Something Great

The show and cookbook are about creating something amazing with often oddly matched ingredients. If you lose a round , you are then “chopped”.  The reason this message hits home is because I find myself working hard to make sense and beauty out of all that is available to me. Most of what I use is from within and many of my creations are limited by less than stellar computer or photography skills. Technology is not my forte, yet I love what it can do for me when used purposefully. So inventiveness requires resourcefulness and adaptability. These qualities do not come easily to me, so that makes receiving this award so much the sweeter.

FIVE things I enjoy about blogging:

1- I love the challenge of juggling images and text to create a meaningful and/or entertaining post. I also strive to make a difference and improve the planet before I hit PUBLISH.

2- I enjoy the element of surprise, who read my posts, are there any comments, etc??

3- I look forward to exploring my reader to see gorgeous photos, blog challenges, soul searing poetry, yummy recipes, or inspiring tales, and so much more…

4- I am somewhat addicted to that golden square near the upper right hand corner that alerts me to likes, follows, comments, and sometimes other goodies 🙂

5- Initially blogging was all about ME (SCREAMS MY EGO), but it is really about all of you and the relationships we forge. I recently read in Your Soul’s Plan  that internet connections are pre-planned between lives and my heart smiled. Regardless of distance, frequency, intensity, or language differences, the friendships here are so beautifully authentic and so cherished by me.

Let me present 5 inventive creative spirits that enrich WordPress with every keystroke:

Ajay –

so eclectic and extraordinary

Escape Artist

making travel a glorious state of being

Odie and OM

irreverent( but never irrelevant) musings and humor with photos as the lead

Simply Vegetarian –

branching out from cooking to writing and photography and with 333 followers to boot, woohoo!

The Vexed Redhead –

a crafty wildcard for sure with only a few followers, my motive is selfish

I want to share her with all of you!

While many of my seasoned blog buddies shy away from all things award, I hope that those reading this will recognize the takeaway message: Maybe necessity is the mother of invention, but embracing limits gracefully is the father!

Happy New Moon to my beloved community!

Tuesday’s Hodgepodge

I get such great ideas in the shower – flashes from my higher nature ( let’s hope so). The continuous practice of cleansing in the water in such a familiar and contained environment is quite conducive for mindfulness and flow of insights ( along with the flow of water!)

Hodge ~

Anyway, while washing my hair it dawned on me that lately the blogosphere has been talking up ego. So I am re-posting this awesome video about ego for your spiritual enjoyment.

I am pairing it with an old song I heard back in the day. It is Nothing but Flowers by The Talking Heads.  The first time I heard it I got an instant premonition about our world. I was totally drawn in. It seems so timely now:

Please draw your own conclusions and share them in the comments section. I always love to hear from you.

Spiritual Integrity

my heart beats faster when I witness the truth, read this post and listen to your heart 🙂

tarot Tarot readings at the Full Moon party in Koh Phangan, Thailand

A really good galpal recently asked me why is it that I am the only spiritual healer she knows who walks the talk and has the kind of energy you would expect? (Boosting my ego… c’mon she is a good friend, not a client… 🙂 )
I wanted to understand more about where her question was coming from before answering. She said that she is so fed up with people claiming to be ‘spiritual’ but are full of negative energy and b…shit, that she is becoming allergic to any spirituality talk. And she lost faith that spiritual healers, who she says evidently need help themselves, can actually help anybody else…

My (controversial) answer is this: good intentions do not make a good spiritual healer. Being impeccable does. Spiritual healer may have the best of intentions and still do harm…

Happy Astrology Day : Here comes the sun!

Thank God for the twinkling and twirling of light.

Happy Spring Equinox and 0 Degree Aries. Also  a very happy Autumnal Equinox to those in the Southern Hemisphere. Either way, a change is a comin’ and I say woohoo!

To my fellow star lovers, I wish you a Joyous International Astrology Day! This is like our version of New Year’s Day, with Aries ushering in new beginnings. Remain patient while Mars and Saturn continue their retrograde status.

333 and more of my favorite numbers

On today March 16, ( 3, 7)  I have  acquired 333 followers and 2700 comments. I really enjoy when there are 2 or more events dovetailing together. It heightens the meaning for me.

Thank you to all the people who take the time to read, like, comment , and follow my posts. I am very grateful, as well as thrilled, that you include me in your life.

My favorite numbers ( and their corresponding planets) are 6 Venus, 7 Neptune, and 9 Mars. As many of you know, I see 111 and 1111 all the time. I would like to diversify and see some other sequences. Perhaps now I can aspire to notice more sequences of three.

Here is some info on 333, which adds up to 9 ~

According to sacred scribes, number 333 resonates with the vibrations and energies of number 3, appearing three times, tripling its influences.  Number 3 relates to encouragement, assistance, communication, freedom, adventure, exuberance, inspiration, creativity, social, easy-going, the visionary, humour, energy, growth, expansion, the principles of increase, expression, openness, spontaneity, broadminded thinking, optimism, kindness, speech, faith, hope and charity, culture, wit, fun-loving, freedom-seeking, brave, adventurous, exuberant, brilliant, non-confrontational, an open-channel, free-form, rhythm, love of pleasure, joy, art, passion, surprise, intelligence, sensitivity, psychic ability, society and being socially conscious, self-expression, affability, enthusiasm, youthfulness, enlivening, imagination, manifestation and manifesting your desires.

Number 3 is the essence of the Trinity  –  mind, body, spirit and is the threefold nature of Divinity.  The number 3 symbolizes the principle of ‘growth’ and signifies that there is a synthesis present – that imagination and an outpouring of energy is in action.

According to Doreen Virtue, 333 – The Ascended Masters are near you, desiring you to know that you have their help, love, and companionship. Call upon the Ascended Masters often, especially when you see the number 3 patterns around you. Some of the more famous Ascended Masters include: Jesus, Moses, Mary, Quan Yin, and Yogananda.

My favorite numbers are 6,7, and 9. All three are prominent in my birth date, birth chart, and several telephone numbers. They just keep showing up. But I also think Tumbling Dice by the Stones influenced me to some degree:

Baby, I can’t stay, you got to roll me
And call me the tumblin’ dice.

Always in a hurry, I never stop to worry,
Don’t you see the time flashin’ by.
Honey, got no money,
I’m all sixes and sevens and nines.
Say now baby, I’m the rank outsider,
You can be my partner in crime.

Listen to them play it live here!  Tumbling Dice

Poetry ~ I AM here now….

Not sure if I am returning since I did not declare I ever left…

I am in the middle of healing and today’s shamanic journeying has accelerated my entry back into the living mystery. Much gratitude to a kindred spirit and fellow blogette Danielle for today’s offering. It is exhilarating and totally unexpected that I was inspired to write for you tonight!

Here is a gift for you, my precious family of readers, bloggers, participants of all creation:

drumming home

you break me down into minute cellular crystals
silence, crash, silence, crash
shatter my innards, sacred blazing flame, glorious screaming light
silence, crash, silence, crash
annihilate my thoughtless insights and ridiculous reasons
silence, crash, silence, crash
beating my soul , one pulse at a time

how I crave you, holy primal rhythms
silence, crash, silence, crash
like an infant feeds on mother’s milk
silence, crash, silence, crash
drum of my heart, drum of my soul
diluting my defenses , stirring my blood dance
reviving my life force, one pulse at a time
