Colon-artistry

The new charger for my not so smart phone arrived today. As I began shooting photos again, I realized my camera somehow changed its resolution to the smallest setting.

How did that happen? It explains why all my recent Longwood photos are so small. It might be a memory thing?

Anyway, I figured out how to switch it back so I can show you a decent size image of my latest healing art. I call it healing art as it describes my intention. I basically imagined what was lurking inside my colon and intestines:

When I began working on it, I took a glance at my healing card box and was astounded:

Photo763

Doesn’t the red swirl resemble her arms around her heart? I swear this was not pre-meditated, just a cosmic wink from Source.

Now for a much larger reveal:

Photo764

Try to ignore the limits of my camera phone and let your imagination soar as you gaze at the inner world of my “organs” ! I ‘ll give you my impressions after you all weigh in. I will say now that it was a challenging assignment, but worth the discomfort. I did not rush the process, just took my time and added more movement and color bit by bit.

I prefer colon-artistry to a colonoscopy, but it is likely I will need to have both!

Feel free to analyze away, my healing is a collective effort. I truly do not know where I would be without you.

  1. So sorry you are going through this, Linda. I love how you are really going into it and figuring out what it is trying to tell you. Art is such a great way to do that.
Lots of wonderful comments and healing here.
Love the title! Do you ever work with clay? I had a friend that was having a colonoscopy the next day. She was playing with clay as we were talking and it turned into a long dragon, shaped like a colon, with certain places you could tell something going on with bumps and stuff.
I love your creation and all the symbolism in it. I see the snake and the beautiful spiral. I see Sue’s elephants in the clouds. I see some inflamed places.
Do you still have your appendix? Looks a little blocked in that area. I also wonder about your spine. Have you had adjustments?
May Life, Love, Healing Light and Miracles flow through you smoothly, easily and with deep loving gentleness.
    Peace,
    Mary

    1. Hi Mary,

Thanks for your thoughtful comments. This is a repost so I did the art many months ago. My appendix is a ok, according to the scans. My spine is fine and I sometimes go to a chiropractor. Where are you getting this from?

I plan to take a fresh look at my composition and write up my findings. xo Linda

  2. Reblogged this on litebeing chronicles and commented:

Happy Valentine’s Day Litebeings! Just spent 3 days in the hospital for a diverticulitis attack. i am reblogging this post as a reminder that I never did follow up on my reactions to my art or on getting a colonoscopy. I am grateful for all my readers and friends at WordPress. If you are a distance reiki healer, I would welcome some reiki healing. I plan to be doing plenty of writing coming off this hospitalization. I also plan on slowing down my incessant need to be productive and “advancing”. My constant self judgement and ambition is not worth the trouble that it has caused. Namaste ❤

  3. Linda, I think you linked in brilliantly within your art to your Colon, and I have spent some time viewing it just now and also linking into it… I see the larger dark patch to the top left as a blockage, but this feels like an energy block.. And then my eyes were drawn to the right in the blue greenish patch. The shapes reminded me of Elephants.. the two larger ones.. the lower one has a face ..

It’s true what they say about Elephants never forgetting anything.. And I feel there is something you hold onto from the past which can be draining.. I want to flush it out using the deep blue which you have used little of.. to soothe the inflammation of the red to create the violet rays..

My thoughts were then lead to the Violet Flame.. and don’t know if you know its mantra, but I am sure you can find it to chant.. which I was impressed to say could help heal and protect your energy which I felt is being drained.

I hope you do not mind me sharing my thoughts on this..
    Love and Healing my friend
    Sue ❤

    1. Thank you for all the effort to “link in” Where is the elephant? I do not see it. Thanks for the healing too. My energy is less than before. I am sleeping more and last night I attended a sound healing that was very soothing and powerful ( at the same time). I do not know the mantra but there are lots of resources on the violet flame.

      I appreciate your insights Sue!

      Namaste with hugs,

  4. Hey Linda,

So pleased you found focus and depth in the setting of your camera and were able to find form to express what ails you…it is an intimate moment you have been inspired and motivated by and felt compelled to define outwardly. It is fascinating that your camera was defaulting to the smallest setting and somehow enabling you to view and examine the larger picture in everything you photographed…the connection you found between your image and the healing cards is very perceptive, as to the inclusion of the transcendent sky within the framing of your thoughts.

I always feel so much energy in your artwork Linda L, everything has a sense of being caught up in constant motion within the framework of a seamless whole. Where there is deliberation in your involvement with the work, there is intensity and passion…the structures and forms become more evident, the colours stronger, deeper, darker, and the weight of the line work heavier, almost impressing the surface of the card itself I would think. Perhaps this is an expression of the agility of your imaginative mind playfully alive in the changing moment and experiencing the pulse of enquiry as it drills down to ask what virtues of desire or pain to give to the act of creating a single line. What emphasis, what care and consideration. What love.

The coil around the darkened centre…its spiral ends at an opening between two vibrant green structures forming buttresses to a larger circle, which in turn encompasses the coil. I find the image of your intestinal pain almost rosette like…the discomfort of a flower at whose centre of pain, the blossoming heart of a delicate bruise submits her colours to anguished petals, but whose fiery reach doesn’t hinder the budding of fresh summer leaves. The ‘memories’ as Michael suggests.

The comments you have already received are energetically healing, and the warmth comforting. I too hope you are repairing, restoring, recharging, and soon back to full wellbeing. The art course would be a wonderful direction to take your expansive mind, and one wonders to what delightful ends it will take you and lead you, and what discoveries you will make along the way. I am sure it will be a compliment to your holistic skill-set LL.

P.S: You would of course have heard of the book titled ‘The Artists Way’ by Julia Cameron? It is a joyous read…and a wonderful experience as you follow her spiritual stepping stones towards capturing, recapturing, and restoring creativity in artistic practice.

    1. P.P.S: Here’s a brief, summative link presenting a one page presentation of the application of Nature’s algebraic artistry…the mathematical mind of the creative thinker. Pythagoras, The Divine Ratio, Linear Algebra, Fibonnacci sequence.

One speaks of vertices, vortices and vectors and natural progressions of evolving states from an original source. Perhaps our thread of life is also pulled along a path whose spiral is bound to mathematics such as this…mathematic principles that are already entrenched deeply within nature and pre-existing, and already there for our eyes and minds to behold?

    2. Hey Dewin,

It is often a bit spooky how easily you pick up on the nuances of my personality, clearly you have aptitude as a clinician. You did a splendid job analyzing my artistic style as it mirrors my approach to life. Interesting idea about the flower, will have to look into that more deeply. I have done the artist’s way years ago and still have the book and my morning pages ( oh how I dreaded them.) I do not know what art course you speak of, but hope to take classes at some point. The poem is lovely, thank you!

I promised I would comment on my own process here, but it is all still too fresh. When more dust has settled I hope to come back here to share what I’ve learned.

      Namaste my friend

  5. fantastic…way back when I was practically a teenager I took an Operating Room Technician Course, which included anatomy and physiology and on the job training…I’m here to tell you this is FANTASTIC…did drawing your intestines help you, I hope so. and if it will help you I won’t say I’m sorry you may have to have a colonoscopy…keeping a positive thought for you and your intestines 🙂

    1. Wow, thanks Theanne! I have seen pictures of intestines but am not really familiar with the details. I think drawing was therapeutic and worth the effort. Thanks for your feedback 🙂

      2. Thank you litebeing…I needed to be able to learn algebra…I never could wrap my head around the concept…and for me…it seemed utterly useless (and to be quite honest I have never once used algebra since leaving high school). I had the chance to go to college…my parents were prepared to send me…I actually went and talked to the art professor at the college I was considering…when I asked him what courses I’d need to take to acquire a degree majoring in Art…he told me…included was algebra. So that took care of that. 🙂

      3. I never used algebra again either and had to take it also in college. Math and science were required for a psych degree. Happily that experience did not eliminate your passion for art…..

  6. Hi Linda,

I’m not so great on art commentary, but I think what you’ve done here is a wonderful way to connect with what’s going on within you, both spiritually and physically. I like the segment that looks something like a tree and is located a little to the right of the center. It makes me feel your colon has this memory of happy times standing at the ready…

You are braver than you think!

    1. Hi Michael,
I did add a tree and other life affirming elements in the work as intuition dictated. I resisted the idea at first because I did not want to obsess more about my health. But it actually is healthy to submerge oneself in whatever is occurring and see what happens.

Thank you for noticing! peace, Linda

  7. Hi Linda, Sorry for yet more commentary, but I aim to be helpful: http://angelsandancestors.blogspot.com/2011/08/spirit-animal-rattlesnake.html Check it out, if you’d like. I like the whole “shedding of skin” analogy with the colon; interestingly the colon is lined with epithelial tissue just like our skin 😉 Shed. Love you, Linda. The title made me laugh. Way to turn a situation! That’s the spirit! xo Ka

  8. Linda, Ok… so I see a snake; like a rattle snake. The colon looks like a snake to me; and I see clouds outside of the colon? On the right? They seem happy. The colon looks inflammed and it wants a big heart hug. Also, the colon looks like a homemade quilt. xo Ka
