Flip The Script

Here is some magic that took place yesterday ( Wednesday)  morning, when Pluto was standing still, awaiting its retrograde journey ( Thursday) today. I was at the drive thru at the local Dunkin’ Donuts. I have mixed feelings about this particular location, but am grateful to be able to use the drive-thru seamlessly. For many years, the driver’s window on my car was not working, so I would have to open the door at the drive thru, toll booth, etc., I was thinking about receiving a miracle, while recalling a synchronicity that occurred Tuesday evening ( more on that later.)

The man at the counter is one of my favorites. He is very kind and patient with me and my special orders. As I go to give him some money, he stops me and says ” Your order is paid for. Someone bought you your order.” I was in shock. I could not believe it! I become a bit teary and tell him that I was actually asking for a miracle. He replies  ” You never know the form, but miracles are always here ( paraphrase) .” Apparently he also is of a spiritual nature. That did not surprise me!

Then I go on to say ” I have seen this on TV, a pay it forward plan. Take my money and use it to pay for the car behind me.” I was so caught up in the moment that I forgot to ask him how much the order cost. I hope the money I gave covered it, but at least I had the wherewithal to follow through. I held onto the receipt as proof that I was part of this glorious exchange.

I cannot tell you how healing it felt to be seen and cared for and acknowledged to be part of humanity. It was the antithesis of having uninsured people ram into my parked, new car, virtually total it, and walk away from their vehicle. In that instant I felt as if the harm was erased and that I was back in the flow. This reminded me that positivity is within reach and can be just as unexpected as negativity.

Tuesday evening was also fulfilling, but in a different way. I was talking with my supervisor at the diner about how I look for reasons to go to work each day and that may be why I lose some objectivity when I consider that many successes may be met by subsequent relapses or poor outcomes. As we were having this conversation, a man approaches me. He looks a bit like a friend of mine, but younger and thinner. He comes to the table with a smile and says ” I don’t know if you remember me Linda, but I’m ( blank).”  When he says his name, I immediately remember him and say hi. I introduce him to my supervisor while his wife yells ” Hi Linda!” from their booth. I yell hello back and I tell him he looks good and that it has been many years. I wish him well and he returns to his wife and two young children.

I cannot tell my supervisor, but I grin because of the irony. It did not matter because I knew she understood why I had to remain silent. Here is a former client of mine who worked with me for many, many years. I worked with his wife for couples sessions and helped him adjust to parenting both of his children. His smile was an indication that I was important to him. He could have stayed in his seat, or perhaps said hello if I happened to walk by his booth. His presence solidified for me that I do help people and that my efforts do matter. Once again, it was about being seen.

I am so grateful for the appearance of these seemingly simple events in the overall fabric of my life. The script was flipped and it could not have happened at a better time.

Love this day of you loving and telling your human self in no uncertain terms that you matter and to hang in there… it’s tough at the moment as we are all, in our own way are clearing all our doubts and judgements ways. They have to go before we can totally make new Earth happen for ourself… much love x barbara

    1. I gave a beggar at the Dunkin some money today and blessed her out loud. Even though I feel plagued inside lately, my heart sings when I bring forth my higher nature, that from which we all originated. x Linda

    Now there’s a really warming smile I can readily see shining between the words of your post! 😀

    Everyone needs a little bit of prognosticating enchantment in their life every now and again, right? It helps get us through the night yearning for the next dose of fairy-dust. Magik always seems to happen when we need it most You earned it, so enjoy the carpet-ride whilst it lasts, perhaps sill a spell or two yourself?

    May I ask where you find yourself now following these transformative events? I see sunshine, what say you?

    Have you seen the drama-romance film, Pay It Forward (2000) ? I thought the concept far-reaching. Would it work do you think outside of Dunkin’ Donuts?

      I did see the film Pay it Forward ( atleast twice) and it made a great impression on me. I thought of it at Dunkin and was excited to be part of something bigger than lil’ ol’ me! I think there are many ways to keep things moving. Right now my energy is limited as is my initiative. Working on self-healing and rejuvenation. When I am inspired, I will act again. I do gift readings here from time to time, but that is not part of a chain.

      1. Hey Linda,

        I think you do yourself an injustice Linda, you are always a part of something bigger than yourself. It’s why you believe in what you believe and why you explore your imagination and intuition as deeply as you do. It also explains why you chose a career that supports and benefits others. That sense of wanting to give is a desire not learned, it is an attribute you were born with, and it is an intention that stretches out before you and guides you onwards ever further. Selflessness is a virtue as too wanting to be successful at doing it! But even the brave and courageous, the giving and the wise need time to rest, rejuvenate, heal and repair…you are not John Coffey (The Green Mile) and able to release what you absorb as flies. But you still remarkable and able to offload in your own way.

        Energy comes and goes like the tide, leaving us full one moment and then depleted the next. I’m not sure there is a true balance between the two, just a daily opportunity to take stock, reflect, refresh and then engage again with duty and responsibility. That is why holidays are important and breaks and long-weekends ideal for cutting loose and letting go! A little bit of hedonism never does anyone any harm, or so I am told.

        I have one question about paying it forward. The first person in the chain…do they pay double, once for themselves and then for the car behind, or doo they get their meal for ‘free’ gifted as it were by Dunkin?

        Memorial Day, yes indeed I have had my own minutes silence in respect of those who have served, and those who have fallen. All wars are tragic, all loss of life is a tragedy. My prayers are always for peace and an end to all conflicts that result in suffering, death, and disruption to life. The World and its people must evolve beyond the fragile egos of those who seek supremacy and dominion of others, who desire wealth and power for themselves.

        Pray for Peace, for Love, for Tolerance, Respect, Compassion, Kindness, Equality, and Truth. And have yourself a wonderful little old week.

        Look after you and keep a smile on your dial.

      2. Do other countries celebrate Memorial Day? I doubt the US is the first, as we are a young country. Regarding your compliments, thank you. I am not without an ego and can be hedonistic and prideful , among other attributes. I do not know how the Dunkin chain started. I was not told how this originated. I would guess whoever started the chain paid for themselves and the next car. Maybe they were paid forward some other way and chose Dunkin to continue the chain. I have little time to chat in a drive thru on the way to work, when I typically running late.I am on staycation this week and it is very necessary for me to recuperate and have some fun as well.

        Certainly other countries hold a memorial day. In the UK we have Remembrance Day held every year at 11am on November 11th, the date and time hostilities were ended. It was what was once called Armistice Day, first introduced in 1919 at the end of World War 1. I have participated in marches and parades whilst with the Navy Cadets at School. I was even a wreath bearer one year, a privilege.

        None of us are without ego or id, and all of us challenge ourselves in one way or another to rid ourselves of defects…but seriously, a good person is always a good person regardless. And a little self-indulgence (in whatever form that takes) is healthy…it gives one time to just be without consideration or compromise, and if it affects no-one else, then what does it really matter. We are human, there is never getting away from that, and we are fallible and built that way so we can always exercise free-will and make conscious choices and decisions. Me, I have my moments like anyone else, and although I don’t drink, or do drugs, I can slob-out with the best of them and get to enjoy the tramping, vagrant heart of myself. One’s got to get a little crazy every now and again if one is to survive this world! 🙂

        So enjoy your week, let go your bonds and do something you’ve no done for a while that’ll tweek a smile and lift your spirits.

        Here’s an idea. Have you ever read The Diceman by Luke Rheinhart? If not, the concept is simple. Assign an option, an activity, a desire, to each number on a dice, roll the dice and go with the option it throws up. Go the whole week doing similar, or develop it further and do similar with a pack of playing cards (remove the Jokers lol) and see where chance and destiny take you. Who knows what adventures and stories could come from that! 🙂
