Can it really be ten years? Yes it’s true, today litebeing chronicles is 10 years old! It took some thought to come up with something meaningful to share about what this milestone signifies to me. So here goes nothing:
Back in the late 1990s I was a Social Work Supervisor for the City of Philadelphia. One of my colleagues was conducting a training on Teenagers and I decided to attend. I was very surprised by what I discovered during this training. She spoke about how many adults lose sight of their inner teen. She had us do an exercise, asking us to visualize who we were at this age and to remember our passions and our dreams. I became aware of my love of art and writing. This exercise resonated with me so strongly. I realized I had mostly abandoned my writing. This saddened me. Eventually I had opportunities to do a small project here and there. A few years later I collaborated with a Quaker psychologist and author on a book. Unfortunately, we failed to finish the project. I have been quoted in a few Quaker journals with my name listed in the back. This was very cool. However, I never got over the unfinished book. I got so close to writing in a big way.
A few years later while in therapy, my therapist at the time encouraged me to write a short story. I completed one and shared it with her in session. It was called God of Small Things. I was happy with this tale about loss turning into love. Looking back, I realize that the title turned out to foreshadow the theme of this blog. I certainly did not plan it that way but my main focus has been relaying stories about how the little things are not little or ordinary. Every experience and detail has potentiality embedded within it for growth, healing, and communion with the Divine. How about that? I hope to convert the wps file to word so I can share it with you soon. About the same time some of my friends and associates were publishing books and starting blogs. I became curious about starting one myself. This was at the end of 2012.
And here we are..
A blogiversary bonus: Here is a picture of me at age 16 with my two best friends. Spoiler Alert! I am the girl in the middle. At that age I was studying astrology ( of course ), dabbling in art, and taking writing classes in high school. I was in touch with my creativity and expected one day to write a book and/or become a professional writer. I briefly imagined being a screenwriter a few years later. That teenage litebeing led me to this point with a little help along the way.
I still love writing and my WordPress family. I still marvel at the synchronicity that my blogiversary is the birthday of WP’s founder Matt Mullenweg. As I say every year, Happy Birthday Matt! You and litebeing chronicles are astrotwins.
Stay tuned dear readers for the details of my new blogging challenge. It will take place next month after Mercury goes direct. I will give you a small hint about the topic now. It is all about kindness and positivity. Visit this site for more details soon.
We have the candles, balloons, a great back story, and a veiled announcement on a brand new blogging challenge. What else do we need to make the celebration complete? A video of course!
When I first heard this song back in 1982, I fell in love with it. I hope you will too. Thanks for reading, collaborating, commenting, and simply being with me for all these years. I am forever grateful. ❤ litebeing
