Green Butterfly/Symbols the Sequel

Happy Friday from couch central. I have been home for over three months and am finding life stranger and stranger. Today has been challenging. But Tuesday was magickal.

I have noticed old events repeating, which some may label as unpleasant. My car was damaged on the right side a few days ago by a hit and run. Different car, but this happened a few times already ( 2017, 2018). I have injured my toes, first on the right foot, and now on the left. I did a “bang-up job ” on the left pinky toe, all bruised and very painful. Yes, I have done this before, most notably back in 2018. I did it over and over for a few weeks back then.

The fun began this morning as my former manager contacts me to come in next week before my coworkers return to hand in company property and retrieve my stuff. He says he wants me to come in early due to social distancing. The real reason is he does not want me to speak to my colleagues, even though I was laid off and did nothing wrong. Today a neighbor called me ” the craziest neighbor” after I asked him not to walk next to me without a mask.  That stung, but I am not crazy, just conscious. Then I spotted 2 strangers walking around my car and parking lot suspiciously.  These events have sparked old wounds and triggered anger and fear. I feel attacked and I have also inadvertently hurt myself. It is eclipse season, with Merc retro and solstice upon us, but my 5th house of fun is highlighted, ha!

Well, there was some fun on Tuesday. I chose another symbol for Spirit to bring to me : a singing frog. He did not show up on Tuesday. On Wednesday I went to my FB feed and a friend ( who is a psychic) posted she was feeling froggy.  She then posted about frog symbolism.  One meaning of frog is finding opportunities during transition. Yes, that applies.

I commented on her post about my wish to see a singing frog. She then referred me to her profile picture and voila, my singing frog! I did not know about this animated character before. I did dig up this article about the urban meaning of a singing frog.

Here is the definition: A Singing Frog is the occurrence in which your attempt to show someone an ongoing symptom/ issue is squandered due to its coincidental absence. The post gives examples of signs that do not occur when you want to show someone else. It reminds me of why I sometimes write about my cosmic encounters, to document that what I observed really happened.

Which brings me to my little visitor. On Tuesday before the FB encounter, I was returning to my car with groceries feeling stressed. I noticed a tiny grasshopper on the trunk. I was excited and needed proof:

This photo was enlarged for detail, he or she was about 3/4 of an inch, if that. Later I returned to my car once home. I was doubtful but had to check to see if grasshopper( or cricket? ) had ridden home with me. He was still on the car, having traveled towards the passenger mirror. I did not have my phone on hand, but was fine just taking in the moment. I had a passing thought that my car is being protected, that all is well. The projection here is that I desire to be protected. My world does not feel safe and every time I cough, I worry I will get sick.

I realize I have been experiencing woo for decades, but I need to feel connected now more than ever. Over this 3 month period, I  experience loneliness, dread, and anger rising up. The manifestation of animal medicine or the appearance of images suggested as “an experiment” are needed for me to keep going. I need support to keep me from descending into a dark hole, can you see? We all must do what we can to reinforce the drive for self-preservation and to move closer to hope and the light.  May the light of universal love carry us when we cannot walk on our own.

HAPPY SOLSTICE TO ALL!

Here and There

I wonder if I am alone in feeling like time is slipping away and I have yet to unpack March. I do not really think I am the only one out there with this issue, but I am still highly sentimental and tend to take my time letting go.

Back in the winter, I decided to leave a scarf in my car in case I would feel cold while driving. We have reached close to 90 degrees recently and that scarf is still waiting in the passenger seat. The question is, is it waiting for me to bring it inside or waiting for winter to return? Let’s face it, in the blink of an eye, the summer will be over.  To quote Game of Thrones ” Winter is Coming! “ In many regards, winter never left. My work laptop idly sits on the dining room table, unused since April. I have no clue when my office will reopen and I will return to clean out my office space and hand in the keys and laptop. Perhaps once this happens I will be totally separated from my former employer. I wish I could have worn that scarf at least once. I also wish I could have my personal items back and be rid of the laptop, a reminder of another company with financial problems, using layoffs as a way to survive.

And yet, my intuition tells me that everything ought to remain as is, for now. I cannot say why ; I just feel it. I continue to learn how to be more okay with “what is”, especially when it causes discomfort or sadness. There is peace to be discovered in the alignment with NOW. I am not being all New Agey, I really do believe this. While little me is usually pissed off or impatient, higher self is totally down with taking life as it comes on its own terms.

Spring green has been replaced with summer green and that will have to be enough. I am excited to show you photos taken over the past few days ( including today). I had thought I had already shot some roses, but none made the cut. Hydrangea bloom about once every 2 years and 2020 is the year, woohoo!

As you take in the imagery, make some time to focus on the opalescence of the hydrangea,  the play of light and color contrast. If not now, when right?

Transparently Yours

I could have written this today. May you find peace in this moment.

Life requires courage, only the bold can continue to breathe in and breathe out. Existence on planet Earth, not for the faint of heart. Walking the path is the hero’s journey only. Cowards need not apply here. Fear is never far away, only a nuanced, inkling separates the being from the trap of despair.

Nature has its own secrets, only for the properly initiated. The rest of us counts the seconds, minutes, hours, between the first squeal and the final gasp. Linear time is a game that is tempting at first glance. And yet, the only way out is to quit playing.

The ocean is no joke. Either you learn to ride the waves or the waves ride you. Power is the ability to influence and Gaia’s a powerful mistress. Obey the silent cry within, never stray far from your truth, your core. Otherwise you may find your essence scattered…

Pattern Literacy: A Guide to Nature’s Archetypes

Another glorious post from Dana. I am more and more observant of nature and her patterns. This post takes you on a visual and historical journey. Enjoy!

The Druid's Garden

The unfolding of the bramble ferns in the spring always feels, to me, like the unfolding of worlds. The tightly packed fronds, formed at the end of last season and dormant all winter, slowly emerge, uncurling so slowly that you can’t see it happen, but if you come back later in the day, you can see clear progress.  I like to meditate with these ferns, as they connect me to the deeper energies of the cosmos.  The unfolding of the fern frond, there in my backyard, is the same pattern as the Milky Way galaxy in which we all reside.  It is in this sacred pattern that I can see the connection to all things and connect with nature deeply.

Make Earth Great Again ~ Earth Day 2020

Gaia is rebounding while most of us stay home. I don’t think this is a coincidence. MGHA ~ Make Gaia Healthy Again! Enjoy this “classic ” blog that still rings true today. Stay healthy everyone!

I adore Bill Maher and borrowed his tagline from last night’s New Rules segment as the title for this post. I do not think that Earth is not already great, but I do think it urgently needs extreme nurturing and collective respect. Sometimes a catchy slogan makes a difference. It did in the US presidential campaign.

While Bill’s rant is a bit satirical, he is a passionate environmentalist who often features activist scientists on his show. Check out this video and leave me your comments below:

It’s for the Birds

Hello litebeings,

Just yesterday I was meeting with my spiritual director about how bored I am with my life and that I rarely can generate excitement anymore. This existential angst has been in play a few months, as transiting Saturn joins transiting Pluto in my 12th house.

After waking this morning I draw the blinds in my dining room which faces the backyard. I see something I have never seen before. Initially, I thought I spied a few sparrows getting ready to disperse. But this was a whole ‘nother event. I witnessed what looked like a few hundred blackbirds literally carpet the backyard and eventually come close to darkening the morning sky in flight. I rushed to turn on my phone to take a picture but it seemed like I was too late. But they swooped back down just a few yards from view, giving me a small window to capture their images on my phone.

I know that these shots do not really show the scope of this bird convention. The limits of the camera and my inability to go outside to get a wider shot prevented me from transferring my experience to “form” adequately. Let me tell you though: seeing these birds en masse took my breath away. I felt both awe and fear, trying to understand why they were gathering here. Was it a sign for me? Was there something going on that led them here? ( Sometimes it is not about me. )

I did a little digging and prayed they were not a ” murder of crows ” signaling death and bad luck. Honestly, I was feeling that way for weeks before the birds arrived. What I discovered is that blackbirds, among other bird species, migrate together in winter to keep them safe. I did not know any of this and it led me to wonder how many other natural encounters may not have been cosmic in origin.

And yet, why can’t it be both? Before the internet, I would have had to go to the library and research this phenomenon if I wanted some understanding. And before there were libraries, I probably would have accepted that they were coming to see me!

I have had several unusual bird encounters, especially around the early 2000s when Neptune was conjunct my Ascendant. I learned then that birds are ruled by Aquarius ( my rising sign ) and that fact was important to me then. I am actually fond of birds but was a bit frightened of the power wielded by the magnitude of their numbers. Yet, when they soared together in flight, my fear turned to delight as I witnessed such extraordinary beauty in motion.

Here is some bird interpretation courtesy of my fave symbolism site :

Birds that are black do not give up their secrets easily. They love to watch us marvel over their messages. Blackbirds demand our commitment to learning their wisdom and do not reveal their meanings unless they are convinced we’ve devoted ourselves completely to the path of understanding.

Part of this understanding comes from the clear perception of the dark and light sides of the universe.

This concept of light and dark is a fundamental concept of alchemy which is: Transition and Transformation. It deals with the ability to accept there are both black and white energies, and they most both exist in order for our world to exist.

The bird itself is symbolic of life in the heavens (higher ideals, higher path of knowing). The color black is symbolic of pure potential.

Consider: what is not exposed, is unknown. What is not known, holds infinite possibility. So, between the two, (the meaning of birds, and the meaning of the color black) there is no limit to human transformation – all we have to do is gently pull the shades down of our rational mind, and start sojourning with our darkly feathered friends.

This all comes about because birds are (metaphorically and mythologically speaking), situated in proximity to the higher energies of the Universe. This also positions them as heavenly or divine oracles and messengers in cultural myths across the globe.

Blackbirds and birds of black or dark colors are special among their airy clan as they are symbolic of:

  • Magic
  • Mystery
  • Secrets
  • The Unknown
  • Pure Potential
  • Unobvious Perception

When I consider where my thoughts and energy have been recently, this interpretation is eerily on point. I need more time to process, but I realize that the duality of dark and light is important for me to integrate, yet again. It is also interesting that a bit later today I spoke to my former supervisor on the phone and heard whistling. He told me that what I was hearing was the new parakeet he just brought home. Another bird? hmmm.

So tell me, have you had any unique bird encounters? Please describe them to us in the comments section.

Transcending Hearts~ WE can make a difference!

I love nature and have no words in response to the Amazon fires. But I do have this reblog from Sue Dreamwalker containing lovely poetry and ways to help address this urgent problem, one of many facing us all.

Dreamwalker's Sanctuary

Lily~Fish Pond in the Garden

Feeling the rhythm as I sit on the swing

Allowing thoughts to drift, to see what they bring

Cloud watching the sky as butterflies’ flit

Pondering the beauty as in creation I sit

~~

The Fish in their world swim beneath lily flowers

While frogs sunbathe too, no concept of hours

Each Petal, perfected in meticulous precision

As I sit and swing, enjoying this transition

We create in our hearts, with our thoughts and minds

For each it is different, our manifesting finds

For that which we think, the energy creates

So be mindful of thought, for it opens many gates

~~

My heart it is peaceful, my mind it is still

We are ALL powerful, all subject to Will

Know we are Sovereign much more than we know

Don’t give away your power to the fear-based cabal

The time now is here…

Nature Rocks

Communion with the natural world is how I do mysticism best ( or better at the very least). My heart opens so wide when I connect with cats, birds, light on a leaf, a pink sunset, etc. My experiences the past month or so have been interesting. On several occasions, I have caught a quick glimpse of a creature or two; an intense flash of movement, so easily dismissed and unlikely to register with the typical busy human be-ing.

Driving home a few nights ago, I saw a solitary deer retreat back towards the woods. ( Photos above were taken in March in my backyard). A few days ago I opened my front door to witness about 8 sparrows fly up from the bushes in unison. Last week I spotted a rare for this area black and blue butterfly move around my car. I remember seeing one like it last August as well. We do not get many butterfly varieties in my neck of the woods, so this was a treat. I consciously set an intention for this beauty to fly back to the car. And I waited. A few minutes. And it did not return.

Fast forward to yesterday right before work as I sit on the couch and watch some TV. A black and blue butterfly flies towards the terrace. There are no plants or flowers there so I do not know what the draw was. I watched it dance around the perimeter of the terrace. Then I noticed it take root on the green mat on the terrace floor. It rested there and fluttered its wings. I rushed to take a picture, wondering if it would allow me to snap a shot. It appeared to see me, but stayed on the mat, in a  butterfly “resting pose.” This lovely creature hung out on my terrace for close to an hour. I took a few shots over the course of 30 minutes.

Isn’t she lovely? Looks like my wish was granted from a few days earlier. This truly felt like a blessing from the Divine, as the butterfly held space for me. It reminded me of my grasshopper giventure a few years back. The photography is not award-winning, but it documents our sweet communion.

Sometimes it is the simple moments that give us all we need if we just take the time to remain quiet and open.

How has your week been?

Tree House Refuge

I knew upon seeing this sign that it would be prominently placed in a future post. We are always one, whether we like it or acknowledge it. It just is. This entry is a follow up to my post in February about the treasures unleashed at a recent consult with my Spiritual Director. It took me a few months but I finally made it over to Morris Arboretum to revisit their TreeHouse exhibit. I picked a day that turned out to be warmer than expected and the place was packed with families and their young children. As an introvert, my pursuit of peace was not found during this trip. Yet, the TreeHouse was lovely and the Rose Garden was in full bloom. And then I discovered the Garden Railway was back “on track.” Sorry, I had to go there!

While this excursion ( only about 10 minutes from home) was neither mystical or freeing, the photos I took are lovely and the signage about Interconnection was not lost on me. Here are a few shots from the Arboretum:

The sky was so vibrantly blue and I had seen so much of the place with fresh eyes. But it was almost closing time and I was feeling oddly dehydrated so my exploration was put on hold for another time.

You see, the day before my visit was very intensely emotional for me and I felt quite depleted.  Sadly, the  ” Treehouse refuge ” I was seeking still remains elusive. I still have much to process as my recent homecoming was certainly not idyllic. I am in no hurry though. I have learned not to rush the process. My spirit does feel some comfort though from my snapshots of nature on this ordinary Spring afternoon. I hope you find them comforting as well.
