Make Earth Great Again ~ Earth Day 2019

I spent  this Earth Day at Longwood Gardens. Earth is heart and the heart is breaking a little more each year. Let’s use our hearts more and love Gaia as a child loves a protective, nurturing, life-sustaining mother.

Happy Earth Day fellow earthlings and Be-ings!

Hey 2019, Let’s Dive Right In!

I bought this lavender day planner not long ago. I typically get a smaller black one but opted for this larger model in one of my favorite colors. Ironically, I have a planner and very few plans. But it symbolizes a blank slate, brimming with possibilities. Rather than contemplate or over-analyze, I prefer to dive right in.

While most of my readers know that I am not much of a structured holiday person, I often find value in some of the practices or activities, knowing they stem from a good place. If we want to pick an arbitrary point for the new year, tomorrow’s partial solar eclipse in Capricorn is an excellent choice.  A solar eclipse occurs on a new moon and eclipses are like lunations on steroids, so tomorrow 1-4-19 at 8:28 EST could behold a fresh start for many.

I would like to share some videos on my first post of the year that made quite an impression on me. They share some similarities. but have distinct points of view. But I will begin with some recent photos taken a few days ago at Longwood Gardens. It is noteworthy that I have yet to dedicate an entire essay to my time there because it has often served as one of my power places. Even on more mundane visits, it is always breathtakingly beautiful and every moment is unique in its own right.

The first two videos are by thought leaders that need no introduction, Matt Kahn and Lee Harris. Matt is more badass and Lee is a bit more polite, but they both offer excellent, often prophetic content on the current metaphysical climate. This new Matt Kahn video is called We belong to the Light. Matt jokes that it is channeled from Pat Benatar. He does not reference which song, but I would say it is We Belong. It is one of my old school favorites. I googled the lyrics and the first line of the chorus is We belong to the light. Funny, I sang it as We belong to the night.

What I found especially significant in this teaching is Matt’s suggestion for how to handle “unusual events”. He advises against asking why something happens or looking for an accurate explanation. Instead, he instructs us to ask ourselves ” What do we need?” I really like this idea because it lets us focus on how to take better care of ourselves instead of going off on some intellectual tangent. Matt is very much about self-care these days and finds many inventive strategies for flowing with life, rather than beating up ourselves or anyone/anything outside of ourselves ( as if there really is an outside?)

This next video is a real gem because it is a Live 1 hour segment. Unlike the monthly energy forecasts, this presentation goes into more detail and even features a Q&A section at the end! What I found most interesting here is Lee’s take on 2019 as the end of one 7 year cycle and the beginning of a new 7 year cycle. While 2019 is a 3 year in numerology, there are individual numerological cycles ( not to mention astrological cycles) all at play simultaneously. Lee delves into the 2012 phenomenon and how it led us to this point in time. I highly recommend you save this one and listen in small increments, as I often do with Matt’s videos. I often fall asleep if I watch for too much at one sitting!

This final selection is seemingly divergent from the two previous ones, but I would say only on the surface. Bandersnatch is the first movie version of Netflix’s highly popular, controversial Black Mirror series. One could say I am a reluctant fan of this very dark, mysterious Sci Fi series available on the Netflix streaming service. This piece is not only their first full feature film, but it is also interactive. You, the viewer get to make choices on how the story progresses. Without giving too much away, this interactive process lends itself to a story within a story framework that explores, fate vs destiny, parallel realities, and time travel. Why do I include it with the previous videos that do seem more light and optimistic? What all three have in common is that they are highly engaging and invite the viewer to get off the escalator and empower yourself.

I am more inclined to say that free will is not all that free at this juncture. And yet, I do think that making choices can lead to brighter outcomes. How we choose and why we choose is up to you! Check out all three if possible ( Netflix is not free so I included the trailer only) and let me know your reactions in the comments.

This image above is a smaller version of the header photo. I selected it as the header because it serves as a metaphor for 2019. It is fresh and new, multi-faceted, and interactive. It also brings the light and lets you decide where you end and where you begin. So either with or without plans or resolutions, take a deep breath and dive right in.

I wish you a very blessed 2019!

Just one more thing ~  Keep your eyes glued to this site as I will be posting a big surprise very soon!

Until then, wishing you a healthy and transformative eclipse.

Shifting Waters Carry Fresh Energy

Hello to new and old readers alike and welcome! I hope to hear from some of the new followers! Please say hi and let me know what’s happening with you.

I am grateful to have you on-board.

I recently made a few changes to the blog’s look and theme.  I changed the tagline to ” Moving at the Speed of Lite”. It many sound familiar, because it is also the title of a post from a while back. Every so often the tagline feels stale so a few days ago I  unceremoniously came up with a one-liner that works.

I know my spirit is moving at least as fast as light, which we call “lite” here at the Chronicles. Some of this movement may be the raising of my frequency and some of it is definitely feeling overwhelmed by all that I encounter internally and externally. Many would agree with me that our planet is speeding up with massive over-stimulation and chaos. I prefer to highlight the joy, but ignoring the shadow is not doing the planet any favors. Many folks say that the light and dark are showing up now more than ever.  So for now this new tagline will help describe my mission, to convey my journey while navigating this new accelerated speed.

I have also played around a little with the color scheme , hoping to spruce things up a bit. Let me know your thoughts in the comment section. I am always interested in getting some feedback.

The photos in this blog were taken at Longwood Gardens with my new smart phone. While I am still figuring out how to operate this device, I must say I like the higher quality images and the ability to take loads of pics without having to delete some for  lack of memory. I chose images with water to highlight the sacral chakra. I learned today at an energy workshop that all of the chakras have an element assigned to them. The sacral chakra is associated with water and is emotionally – based. On Thursday my massage therapist said that this chakra needed balancing. It is also connected with the large intestine and can be one of the chakras effecting digestion. In any case, I am working on digesting whatever I encounter and not staying stuck there. These images encourage flow, movement, and harmony so I am setting an intention to get back on track and let life flow through me.

I still plan to write about how I spent my winter so that I can properly catch up with all of you. I find the process to be therapeutic at times, and writing about my experiences helps me integrate them and release them sooner rather than later. Being unemployed again has not been easy for me. I dread it when someone or something I love is removed from my life. I loved working with my guys at the rehab and I was surprised how important that job became in such a short time.

I treasured Anthony Bourdain and he was taken from me too soon. I saw some of myself in him, but more in terms of my potential.  He had an infectious balance of passion, intellect, curiosity, and sensitivity. He was living my dream by being able to inspire, educate, travel, write, meet fascinating people and sample the world’s cuisines. He was a badass with a huge heart. But it appears his shadow got the best of him and he gave into his darker impulses. I realize these losses are not personal, but they still feel personal. I can strongly relate to the stories of those who are survivors and come from behind and do great things. However, here in 3D, no thing is eternal and to quote George Harrison, all things must pass.

I am so moved by those who can transform themselves and live life fully. So I honor my heroes who are recovering addicts or recovering from anything toxic by working on myself. I take photos, apply for jobs, participate in new activities, delve into subjects that excite me, and balance the new with the respect for the old. We do not usually get to decide when change is upon us, but we can decide how to cope with it.

I am still exploring what I want to do next. What type of career path should I pursue? How can I best be of service? I want to continue helping awaken the planet and not much else interests me anymore. Can any of you relate to narrowing one’s focus in this way? The trick is to find the best way to serve that is uniquely meant for you. How do you know what it looks like? Does length of service matter at all? What about function, setting, location? This can be overwhelming but the guiding principle in this process is to do what feels good in the body and participate where I can grow and develop along the way. At least that’s the motto for today!

I adore Bill Maher and borrowed his tagline from last night’s New Rules segment as the title for this post. I do not think that Earth is not already great, but I do think it urgently needs extreme nurturing and collective respect. Sometimes a catchy slogan makes a difference. It did in the US presidential campaign.

While Bill’s rant is a bit satirical, he is a passionate environmentalist who often features activist scientists on his show. Check out this video and leave me your comments below:

Happy Earth Day!

New Moon Orchids and Such

Happy New Cancer Moon to all,

While this lunation at 2 degrees Cancer sits clearly in my 5th house of romance and fun, I am feeling none of the above. My work life is being thrown into chaos as funding woes have drastically changed my job description. My health is better in general, but pain is a constant companion most days. I am now on clinical supervisor number three and I keep asking myself if I am a masochist for attempting to complete the LCSW process. I will let you know when I figure it out.

On the bright side, I still have a job for now and some interesting developments have recently surfaced. I have just begun teaching astrology on a formal basis.  I interviewed for an opportunity to participate in a pilot project on supporting people on Spiritual Emergence/Awakening. More new people are appearing in my life in terms of group constellations and I find that exciting.

However, my energy level remains low and my worry about work is currently interfering with my ability to blog new material. Hopefully this will pass soon, but in the meantime I want to post some amazing orchids and such I shot a few months back at Longwood Gardens.

While no one is going to confuse me with a professional photographer, I must admit that I have enjoyed taking photos very early on. I prefer shooting natural scenes to people because I relish the opportunity to capture moments of beauty. As a very visual person, photography comes naturally to me. Not the technical aspects, but the pleasure of focusing on what comes your way. It can be a form of mindfulness.

I continue to engage in gratitude practice as it helps me re-program inherent negativity into new energy. I am grateful to have a platform to call my own which affords me the ability to broadcast instantaneous musings and imagery all over our planet.

namaste to all

Did you get the call ?

This classic scene from Close Encounters of the Third Kind clearly illustrates what can happen when a powerful image emerges and takes hold of an individual. Later on in the film we discover that many unrelated people have been seeing the same image and come together. They were chosen and heeded the call.

Dane Rudyhar – When I read the Power at the Crossroads post by my friend Monika at Symbolreader, I knew I had to reblog it. The quote that she cited by Dane Rudyhar spoke to me so directly and powerfully. Please read the quote below:

What seems to me more likely is that the very basis of our science, our technology, our way of programming social existence will be altered. It may not be altered rapidly by man-made wars and revolution or by telluric upheavals. It may not be altered everywhere at the same time. There may be “germinal groups” co-existing with an increasingly deteriorating technocratic Establishment, whether at the global, or only at the national level. It is not even inconceivable that the parallel to a Roman Empire after the beginning of the Aquarian Age will be a network of deeply spiritually intent groups and communities whose members will not only intellectually, but occultly or “telepathically,” realize their unity as components of the global organism of MAN while the “Barbarians” will be represented by the power-greedy politicians, the intellectuals, the worshipers of university knowledge and of machine-technology. The roles may thus be reversed, but eventually the followers of the old order would become spiritually fecundated by those groups which they probably would have tried to destroy, as Germanic tribes became Christianized and transformed by the symbols, the language, the social concepts and to some extent the manners of those they conquered.

Now I do not agree with the quote in its entirety, particularly the intellectual bashing, but when I contemplate how groups are forming , such as here at WordPress, I find Rudyhar to be prescient. I want to use this post to explore the idea that when people begin to awaken, they obey the call and are guided towards members of their tribe.

Martha Beck – Shortly before I read Monika’s post, I had just finished a book written by Martha Beck that had been recommended to me.  The book is entitled  Finding Your Way in a Wild New World by Martha Beck.  Initially I resisted reading it , because I have so many unfinished books to dig into, and the  described contents appeared to offer no fresh insights. I went to the library anyway, which just happened to have it available. Once I read the intro, I was hooked!

Please review the Team Member or Wayfinder attributes paraphrased below to see if they resonate:

Team Member or Wayfinder Attributes:
– sense of a specific mission or purpose involving a major transformation in human          experience, but unable to articulate what the change might be
– strong sense the mission is getting closer in time
– a compulsion to master certain skills professions in preparation for a personal mission
– high levels of empathy
– an urgent desire to prevent or lessen suffering for humans plants and animals
– loneliness stemming from a sense of difference
All team members possessed some of these :
– passion for music poetry performance or visual arts
– an intense love of animals
– difficult early life, often with history of abuse or trauma
– intense connection to certain types of environments, such as ocean or mountains
– resistance to orthodox religions accompanied with strong spiritual purpose or  yearning
– love of plants or gardening
– very emotionally sensitive, often leading to addictions, eating disorders or anxiety
– intense connections with certain culture languages or geographic regions
– disability in oneself ( often brain centered) or loved one,  fascination with people who    have intellectual disabilities or mental illness
– gregarious personality combined with deep need for solitude
– persistent or recurring physical illness, often severe
– daydreams or dreams about healing damaged people, creatures or places

I don’t know about you, but if you are reading this , chances are good that you possess many of these. I prefer the term tribe, but use whatever works for you!  I was amazed to discover that almost all of these apply to me.  Martha Beck explains that she discovered these key traits though her research. She later introduces four skills to help you prepare yourself for the cultural revolution and your role in it. She includes several exercises  and examples for each of the four skills listed below:

The 4 Skills

wordlessness – shift from the verbal to the realm of the creative intuitive and sensory
oneness – profound interconnection
imagination – key to powerful problem solving abilities
forming – manifestation into form via the three previous skills

I use wordlessness via meditation, oneness via communion with nature, and imagination I use, or it uses me, practically all the time. Forming is currently a hit or miss process for me. I find it to be elusive and mysterious and worth the application of effort. I suspect that I am using forming when I meet fellow tribe members!

NCGR Astrology Conference – I attended this conference in my hometown of Philadelphia this past Friday and Saturday. I have been yearning for years to attend one, but lack of money or time had alluded me. When I learned last year that an international conference was being planned for the summer of 2013, I thought I had witnessed a miracle and decided I would attend. I may blog about some of the lectures at another time. What has me mesmerized was the incredible ease I had in meeting like-minded souls. I do not mean to imply that all astrologers are like-minded. Yes there is a definite kinship within this group of folks who practice and study a subject that is long-standing and yet often widely ridiculed or marginalized. What I am referring to is connecting with those that share a common history and chemistry that is familiar and comforting.

For example, on the first day I meet a friend of mine from NJ who I knew was planning to attend. We have known one another for years and we have a nice bond. She introduces me to a friend of hers.  Her friend is not an astrologer but wanted to explore the conference. We discover we went to the same high school at the same time and her sister graduated the same year as me. But it gets better! She mentions a future trip to Pendle Hill and her job at Longwood Gardens. These are two of my power places! She does not live near either one of these places and Pendle Hill is not widely known to non- Quakers. What are the odds?  We all had lunch together. The place we wanted to go to was closed for lunch so we ended up at a restaurant close to the hotel. While sitting there I realized I had not been there for thirty years. The name and design had changed, but my college boyfriend took me here when he broke up with me! (The one from my Indian restaurant post. ) Apparently I do have some unfinished business from that time period!  While we chatted, we ( my new pal from NJ and I ) discovered that we enjoyed the same music , dressed similarly, and were in the same social circles in high school. We both have prominent Neptunes in our charts and I think we even look like we could be related.

Later that evening while walking to the train station I observe two women ahead of me carrying bags from the conference. I decide to introduce myself. It turns out one of the woman decided to attend at the last-minute when a friend who couldn’t go offered to let her go in her place. We exchanged birth data as all astrologers do, and we share Scorpio on my sun and her Rising Sign.  I am not just referring to the same sign or even the same degree. We share the same degree and minute! We exchanged some pleasantries and hoped to meet up on Saturday. Our paths crossed on Saturday and we hung out sharing about our lives and examining our respective charts. We had so much in common, even to the point of being left-handed. Her group invited me to sit with them at the dinner lecture. Apparently there was a free drink ticket provided to each guest. I threw out my envelope without looking for a ticket. My new friend found 2 tickets in her envelope and offered one to me! It just seemed like we were supposed to meet. Many of us noticed that while sitting together in the lecture rooms , people discovered great chart connections. I had a wonderful exchange with a lovely moon in Scorpio woman who sat in front of me. She asked me for career guidance and we discussed the path of the Scorpion woman. I could describe more scenarios, but you must get the idea by this point in my story. What astrology can beautifully illustrate with symbols is the synergy that occurs regularly in many mystical encounters. There just aren’t any charts to document the connections.

I hope you were able to indulge me with this long-winded post. It was important to showcase what happens when we are called and decide to follow through. Some bloggers have been discussing how there appears to be a powerful linkage occurring among like-minded souls. I wholeheartedly agree and wanted to put this idea directly out there. I do not believe it is simply for fun and friendship. I think it has to do with joining together those who aim to heal and transform our world.

Please respond in the comments section and let me know if you agree or disagree. Let’s have this crucial conversation and see what happens!

 Did you get the call?
